Membership

At Harbinger Gospel Church, we do not require formal membership covenants or contracts, but instead, we ask potential members to make a verbal commitment to uphold the standards of our doctrine and to hold others to these same standards. This approach aligns with the principle of ‘let your yes be your yes and your no be your no’.

Before making this commitment, potential members are asked to thoroughly review the church’s doctrine and encouraged to meet with a pastor to ask any clarifying questions. We believe that members should wholeheartedly agree with the defined essential doctrine.

The baseline commitments for members of Harbinger Gospel Church are as follows:

  1. Devotion to Following the Way of Jesus: We ask that members commit to following the teachings and example of Jesus Christ in their daily lives.
  1. Regular Scripture Reading: Members are encouraged to regularly engage with the Bible, including reading the weekly church-wide passages.
  1. Active Participation in Sunday Gatherings: We believe that the church is a community, and as such, we ask that members actively participate and contribute during our Sunday gatherings.
  1. Investing in the Lives of Other Members: In accordance with our bylaws, we ask that members make every reasonable effort to invest in the lives of other members throughout the week.
  1. Living in Accordance with the Moral Code: We ask that members live in accordance with the moral code established in our bylaws.
  1. Sharing the Gospel Message: We encourage members to share the gospel message with unbelievers and to mentor and nurture prospective new believers.

Members have the option to leave the church at any time. We encourage those considering this decision to pray and deliberate with their pastor. Members can be removed from the church if they repeatedly and unrepentantly violate their commitments. This decision is at the discretion of the elders and should be based on substantiated accusations from a multitude of witnesses.
