“As you go” evangelism:
As the radical grace we’ve received overflows from our hearts, it should only be natural to share this grace in everyday life. Interactions with family, coworkers, friends, neighbors, and even brief encounters with doctors, mechanics, or cashiers become divine opportunities to share Jesus’ love and message. It’s about turning everyday moments into potential for spiritual conversation, embodying the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) in all aspects of life.
Mentoring:
Beyond everyday evangelism, members are encouraged to take the next step with those who show openness and interest. This involves entering into a mentoring relationship with one or two individuals at a time, guiding them in their spiritual journey and growth in Christ. It’s a deeper commitment, fostering a nurturing and supportive environment for new believers or seekers to explore and deepen their faith. This mentorship aligns with the nurturing aspect of discipleship, helping to water the seeds sown in the hearts of those receptive to the Gospel.
Focus on Faithful Effort, Not Results:
We recognize that it is God who transforms hearts. Members are thus encouraged to sow the seeds of faith with love and patience, without the pressure of measuring success by conversions. Paul’s reminder, “So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow” (1 Corinthians 3:7), guides us in this. Our focus remains on being faithful sowers of the seed, trusting in God’s power to bring forth the growth.
Compassionate Accountability:
At Harbinger Gospel Church, we uphold the expectation for all members to actively participate in sharing the Gospel, as it is central to our faith and obedience. This commitment is nurtured within a framework of mutual encouragement and gentle accountability. Yet, in recognizing that challenging seasons such as bereavement, grief, or depression can profoundly impact one’s capacity for outward ministry, we adopt a posture reflective of Jesus’ own heart — gentle and lowly (Matthew 11:29). In these times, we extend grace and empathetic support, embodying Christ’s compassionate and understanding nature. Our approach during such periods is not one of stringent expectation, but of walking alongside each member with kindness and patience, honoring both their individual journey and our shared mission.
