Small House Churches

Embracing Our Identity as a Family in Christ:

At Harbinger Gospel Church, we actively pursue and cultivate familial relationships, recognizing that through Christ, we are truly a family. Our shared faith binds us together, fostering deep connections that go beyond mere fellowship to genuine familial bonds. We acknowledge and celebrate this spiritual kinship as a fundamental aspect of our church community.

Obedience Through ‘One Anothers’:

We find small churches to be the ideal setting to faithfully carry out the commands of the ‘one another’s’ found in Scripture. By loving, serving, encouraging, praying for, and supporting each other (John 13:34; Galatians 5:13; 1 Thessalonians 5:11; James 5:16; Colossians 3:13; Galatians 6:2; Ephesians 4:32; Ephesians 5:21; Colossians 3:16; 1 Thessalonians 4:18), we live in obedience to these directives. These small groups are the perfect environment to practice these commands, enabling us to fulfill them authentically and effectively.

Children:

At Harbinger Gospel Church, we embrace a holistic and familial approach to childcare, deeply rooted in the scriptural principles of Proverbs 22:6 and Matthew 19:14. Our philosophy transcends traditional concepts of childcare, as we cultivate a spiritual family where every child is nurtured and valued by the entire community. This unique approach means that during our Sunday gatherings, there is no separate childcare program. Instead, children are fully integrated into the services, participating, listening, and playing as part of the communal worship experience. The familial bonds we foster between families are so strong that they resemble those of an earthly family. This connection empowers any adult in the congregation to care for a child as if they were their own, not just the child’s parents. If a child is crying or in need, any member of our church family is ready and able to provide assistance, reflecting our commitment to ‘bear one another’s burdens’ as taught in Galatians 6:2. Parents, while recognized as the primary caregivers in line with Ephesians 6:4, can engage more fully in worship and fellowship, knowing their children are in safe, loving hands within our extended church family. This approach allows children to experience a diverse range of affectionate interactions and care, enriching their spiritual and social growth. By sharing the responsibilities and joys of childcare in this communal manner, we not only lighten the load for parents but also ensure that every child feels the love and guidance of a larger family, committed to leading them towards Jesus.

Meeting in Homes:

Due to our emphasis on maintaining small, intimate groups, it’s natural for these gatherings to take place in homes. This setting not only accommodates the size of our groups but also reinforces the family-like atmosphere we cherish. Meeting in homes allows for a closer, more personal interaction among members, strengthening our bonds as a spiritual family.
